Philippine Government Still Optimistic About More Job Opportunities for Pinoy Nurses

The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) revealed that Pinoy nurses will still be very much in demand in the near future in developed countries.

This comes after the government helped the hiring of Filipino nurses in the Middles East which remains consistently high while Australia needs 200T Filipino nurses. Other countries that are opening up for Filipino nurses are Japan, Spain and Canada while deployment of Filipino nurses for the United Kingdom has dwindled.

The United States government, on the other hand, is fast tracking the nursing education for training their local nurses which might affect the number of deployment of Filipino nurses wanting to migrate there.  This is expected to be counteracted by two house bills pending in US Congress that will open the hiring of foreign nurses to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in the US.

US Labor Department estimates that they will need 500,000 nurses between 2016 until 2025 as there will be millions of elderly people within this period and training their local nurses will not be enough to attend to the needs of the growing aging population.

PIA has acknowledged news report that there are 400T Filipino nurses left without employment as deployment for nurses abroad has slowed.

This is why it is extremely important for the Philippines to uplift the quality of the nurses today especially in the communication skills as well as hands-on experience as these will be the edge of the Filipino nurses when they work overseas.

No Jobs for Pinoy Nurses in Israel – Beware of Illegal Recruiters

September 5, 2008 · Filed Under In the news, Interesting Blogs, Work in Asia, Work in Middle East · Comment

The Philippine Consulate at Tel Aviv in Israel has warned the public that there is no such requirement for Pinoy nurses in the land of the Holy.

This announcement came after reports that certain recruitment agencies have been luring the job-hungry Pinoy nurses who are now stranded in the Philippines ready to work abroad.  The embassy has denied reports of employment opportunities at a certain Jordan Valley Medical Center.

The Philippine government has already made some information awareness to thwart any attempt to recruit our Filipino nurses to Israel.

You have been warned.

DOLE Claimed That There is Still High Demand for Pinoy Nurses Worldwide Other Than US and UK

Quick to respond to the news and defend the nursing profession, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) springs hope to many as they claimed that the global demand for locally-trained Pinoy nurses still remains high especially in Western countries with an aging population.

Labor Secretary Marianito Roque further claimed that it is not the because of dwindling demand for nurses abroad that is the culprit but rather the lack of adequate and necessary experience of our Nurses that actually prevents many of them from finding overseas employment.

Roque admitted, however, that the US is indeed putting a cap on the entry of Filipino nurses but he said this should not prevent Filipinos from looking at other possible market abroad for capable nurses.

Roque has been in talks with the Saudi Arabian government lately and declared that the Saudis alone is in need of 10,000 nurses for their public hospitals and they are looking for Filipino nurses to fill in these vacancies. He said there is also a growing demand for Filipino nurses in Canada as well as Australia.

Earlier it is reported that according to Dr. Leah Samaco-Paquiz, president of the Philippine Nursing Association (PNA) , the demand for Filipino nurses had “plateaued” in the US since 2006 because of the “visa retrogression” there.

“In the US, the quota for visas has been filled up resulting in delayed processing of visas with current efforts focused on 2006 accepted applicants,” Paquiz said.

She added that “many licensed nurses are now underemployed or unemployed as a result of changes of policy in destination countries, the current situation of oversupply and quality problems, among others.

The Labor chief rebuked these claims of the PNA that an oversupply of Filipino nurses has resulted from the declining demand for nurses in the United States and United Kingdom and reiterated that the other countries of the world still demand and prefer the caring hands of Pinoy nurses.

I hope DOLE will be good in protecting the nurses interest at this point in time.

Overseas Jobs for Pinoy Nurses are Dwindling as Demand for Filipino Nurses Slows Down Abroad

The Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) has announced that job opportunities for Filipino Nurses who wants to work abroad is getting slimmer by the day.

In a recent interview with PNA President Dr. Leah Samaco-Paquiz, such decline in demand for Filipino nurses is brought about by several factors which includes the changes in policy in destination countries, the oversupply situation and quality problems and doubts on Pinoy nurses.

The United States and United Kingdom are major destination for Filipino nurses in the past but these 2 countries are now closing their doors slowly to our nurses.  The US Visa retrogression and the UK Policy change on immigrants are to be blamed for this issue.  These countries will soon prefer to hire local nurses rather than recruit from overseas like the Philippines.

It’s a sad news for all nursing students out there who are still hopeful to leave the country as soon as they pass the local board and other series of tests in the nursing profession.  This would have a very debilitating impact on the local nursing profession very soon if these nurses can’t go anywhere then the where will these future nursing graduates work?
