Are Middle East Countries Really Seeking 5000 Pinoy Nurses?
Last month, it was reported by the POEA that some Middle East countries have expressed their interest to hire our homegrown Filipino nurses.
The POEA has not clarified which countries in the Middle East are hiring but the report says that 5,000 nurses are needed in government hospitals.
The report has not been verified to have bear fruit as of this writing but this is a welcome news to all aspiring Nurses who wants to work abroad. However, Middle East not always the first choice of the Filipino nurses. Pinoy Nurses are known to always choose to work in North America or Europe if they have a chance.

Filipina Nurse was Arrested and Detained by Vice Police in Saudi Arabia for Immorality Charges
A few days ago, a female Filipino nurse who was caught by The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice having dinner with a Westener male colleague.
Commission members arrested Abigail Valdez, a nurse who works at the Riyadh Military Hospital, on charges of “immorality.” Valdez is said to be being held at Al-Malaz Prison.
The Filipina nurse was immediately taken to jail and has not been heard from since and even the Philippine Embassy has not been allowed to have any contact with her.
Philippine Ambassador Antonio P. Villamor told reporters that he had sent officials from the embassy’s Assistance to Nationals Section (ANS) to the prison. The embassy was denied access, acccording to Vice Consul Gerardo P. Abiog, who is in charge of ANS.
Mixing of sexes in public places is against Saudi law. Unrelated men and women caught dining at a restaurant would normally be sentenced to four months in jail and 100 lashes. The same punishment applies to a man and a woman caught in a state of seclusion (khulwa).
Valdez’s male colleague says he was “dragged out of the restaurant by his belt with his feet in shackles” at the time of their arrest. The man said he was separated from the Filipina nurse once they reached the commission’s center. “She sent me a text message from her phone saying she was being taken to Al-Malaz Prison and that she was freaking out. That was the last I heard from her,” he said.
It’s a very shocking news to all Filipino Nurses in the middle east. Shocking but true. Will give you new updates as they arrive.
