Job Opening for Nurses in the US & Canada??? : Filipino Nurses News – Latest & Hottest News about Pinoy Nurses Worldwide

Job Opening for Nurses in the US & Canada???

Before you get excited, this post is not about any job openings in the US or Canada.  This post is about a reflection of the past which begs the question “”Whatever happen to the million-dollar dream of working as a Filipino nurse in the US and Canada?”.

This need for health workers in North America has sparked a frenzy of what I call “expectators” from the Philippines when we see this as our miracle job to alleviate ourselves from the chin-deep poverty issues.  I was gasping for air just like you.

Most people view this as their target in life.  Survive college whatever it takes, stick with nursing.  The work your ass off and invest your money in getting that PRC certificate to show the world that hey, I am a board passer in the Philippines. So now what?  With the recent passing of more nursing professionals in the country, the US and Canadian job market doesn’t seem to care.

Do we still have work there in the future? Yes. No? Maybe!

This is disheartening. And I can only feel for us when we know we should be reaping, right now, the very fruits of our labor.  Yes there is hope in the horizon but it seems to be very far.  So I would say we need help on all fronts.

First, the government has to step in into the situation and do something about it – as in give these new nurses here something to do while waiting to be deployed somewhere out there.

Second, the government has to market the Pinoy nurses and sign more treaties and agreements that can tap the current labor market.

Third, the government also has to curb the and halt the continuous over production of nurses in the country.  They are the only one who can control the Education sector to avert the impacts of oversupply of nurses in the country.

Fourth, we must not wait for a nursing work.  We should find some other jobs while waiting.  Don’t be picky.  Become a call center agent is the answer of many.

Fifth, tell our parents and kiths and kins to stop urging and forcing kids to take up nursing.  In fact at this point in time, it is better if there will be no more nurses yet to be produced since usually only half of them pass the board exams.

Sixth, sign a petition for the government to implement the first 3 steps above.  We must let them know that we are serious on this matter and we need some things to change the landscape of opportunity for the Filipino nurse.

And lastly, do not lose hope.  US and Canada are not the only place to give you the dream job you are looking for.  There are many other things you can do than wait.  Become productive in whatever way possible.  So act now before its too late.
